The Poppy Fund belongs to all of us
Every branch in Canada has a Poppy Fund, including all the branches in Alberta and Northwest Territories. The funds donated by generous Canadians are considered ‘in trust’ and belong to the citizens of Canada.
The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Manual determines how the Poppy Funds can be used. The original reason for the Poppy Fund was to provide emergency support, including food, shelter and clothing, to Veterans and their families. Today that is still the main focus.
