In the Community
The Royal Canadian Legion Alberta-NWT Command leads the province in its observance of Remembrance Day in November each year.
The Legion’s role is to provide a focus for public observance of the sacrifice made by men and women in Canada’s armed forces since the First World War.
It has always been the Legion’s great honour and privilege to take responsibility for Remembrance and the Poppy Appeal. We see it as our duty to make sure that its observance will continue in perpetuity. So we must plan for the future — and make more and more people aware of the work that we do behind the scenes.
The Legion reaches out to the wider community, especially to younger people, through educational events, talks and presentations.
Members and volunteers organize events and raise funds to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice. If you would like to help with Remembrance or the Poppy Appeal, contact your local branch or our main office.
